It's much easier to see the light when you are awake and your eyes are open. Girl, I finally get it; my eyes are open and the light is pouring in. It's been more than a week since I last saw you, and I haven't talked to you all that much in that time. It's been freeing. Just like in painting, it is good to occasionally step back and look at the bigger picture. You can take your art and I'll take mine.
Madison you know my opinion about the quality of your work and the strength of your eye; so don't think I talking about your right now.
The point is that not everyone with an slr camera is a photographer, most are just people snapping pics with a big fancy camera.

score
I really think I'm free of what has dominated my time for the last 6 months. It's a really good feeling to not give a fuck anymore. Score
The same night I felt this way my mind was blown as any preconceptions or stereotypes revolving around a person where destroyed after really talking to this person. I mean really blown. Really really blown. Fucking crazy shit; in the words of a friend, "she's cute and it's really cool she went to that Tobacco show. Bryant, you've got to bring her into the fold quickly". Not much is shocking anymore, but last night I was shocked. She also seemed free of the crazies. woah

office work
Two things that are related and I find very funny:
-Driving home from a friend's place and getting stuck in morning rush hour
-Getting in a cab at the end of the night, asking the driver "has it been a busy night" and the cabbie replies "I don't know, I just work mornings"
These are most funny when the deciding factor between the two options is how straight you can walk.
I went to bed early last night and woke up early. It feels good.

The Doors and The Lost Boys
Sometimes things don't work out like they are supposed to or how you intended. That can be good or bad or totally unexpected; other times you realize that the process is actually more important than the result.
This was just a lead in to talking about something that certain people understand and others just don't get. Runners talk call it the runner's high; what I want to bring to attention to is something I call artist's high.
The joy of starting something new
The focus of planning this thing
The hard and stressful work involved in the completion
The obsession that drives that work
The force that demands or the fire inside that makes all of that stress and obsession seem like good things
The warm exciting feeling that comes from knowing what you are doing is good
The click in your mind and ultimate satisfaction and relief when you know that the project is done
The hesitant moment right before the first presentation of this project
The internal smile brought on by the point when you realize it is as good or better than what was expected or that you thought on your own
The high peaks when you experience the project in the way and place and setting it was designed to, and that the work paid off, the release of obsession, this is the part that someone who has ever created something and it has been a success.
Reality hits the moment you give up the personal and proprietary attachment to the project
The down part is the hallow feeling that comes from the release of that obsession and not having something to replace it.
This last part is the most unique to a creator. A will and uncontrolled nature is what drives you to find something new, to search out all of the work and stress and ups and downs involved in a new project is the nature that separates some people from others. It's easy to bask in success and to be content with that.
The point is that people are strange. There is nothing wrong with being an "addictive personality", if a person doesn't have something to be addicted to they aren't fully living. Lucky people find things worthy of obsession. Unless of course that thing is fantasy baseball

Gayngs Last Prom on Earth was awesome. So much fun. Good feelings come from those memories. That was fun guys, good job. 9.9 out of 10. Nothing like this will ever happen again. 1300 balloon drop. four confetti cannons, dave and me working, 200 helium balloons, thousands of feet of streamers, sweet tux, fur couch, 10' sequin gayng sign, 25 plus members, prom dressed friends, sold out crowd, friends all around, hot and beautiful dresses and shoes, smiles everywhere, near perfect amount of consumption, such good people, Darling party after, blue light sunrise, all the names, rooftop, wonderful and perfect person to be a seat for, beautiful pictures, cooks champagne, ladders and polka dots, camera girl, glow spot in that picture, dropped shit, right person to spend the night with, wake up nicely and warm, t shirt, chipotle lunch, drop off, go home and waste while dreaming, wonderful music. the night was just right. smiles and warmth, and broken glasses. I could go on, but I'll feel it instead. Good job Gayng and Dave and Claire and Matt plus everyone else. this rocked. bye
not like any night that will ever happen again. this was a truly unique experience and everyone present had their own unique experience. wonderful changes and surprises combined with reminders of why I liked it in '97 made this a warmth triggering memory that will never go away. yes

cinco de bryo
it's my birthday today. I like to spend my birthday in a more subdued and laid back than I generally do when I go out. At least I like to think so. We'll have to see how well that goes

gayngs
this is a video a friend directed for a group called Gayngs that was started by friends which features friends and friends of friends. the video is filled with friends and it was shot at the bar friends and I hang out at often. Fun stuff, but I feel bad for the people who were filmed but not used.
Cry

I'm in it too looking extra dirty. I feel so socially validated, now I have proof that I'm cool. I'm so awesome

Pretty Inane Things: Interview with Solid Gold's Matt Locher
With sincere apologies to Marilyn McCoo, Solid Gold is not just synonymous with an afro-infused flashy top 40 countdown dance show anymore. It's also a psych funk dance and groove band out of Minneapolis (by way of Wisconsin) who kick and make you shake some serious tush. The band, who sadly don't come with Solid Gold Dancers (although many audience members make for some nice ba dunk-a-dunk moments), recently released their EP "Synchronize," have showcased for years at various fests including SXSW, and are on to - what Peter Noone might sing off key - "something good." I spoke with one of the band's founders Matt Locher on their tour (dates include May 2 at Spaceland in L.A. and the Urban Lounge in Salt Lake City on May 6), their evolution, and some pretty inane things.
One of your tracks is called "Bible Thumper." What is it and how can I be one?
I'm pretty sure its a racist redneck, unfortunately some of our song titles don't have anything to do with the music. As for becoming one, just eat a ton of McDonald's and start hating whatever you can.

That's a bummer. I have to also admit I have a hard time dancing to the beat... at least at first, but I eventually find my way - albeit awkwardly. How can Solid Gold help me?
Solid Gold will not only give you private lessons on dancing, but will teach you how to hunt large game on safari, such as giraffes and cheetahs.

I think I'll stick with the dancing. How'd you come up with your unique sound by the way - so psych, keyboard happy... I could go on.
Listen to Wu Tang Clan in one ear and Oasis in the other. Done.

At what point will you know you've made it?
Of all the things that I've made today, "it" is not yet one of them. I hope to make "it" with my girlfriend later tonight.

Hey-o. Who has the best mustache ever and why?
This guy Frankie that comes into my work, he has really s----y breath though, so it kind of puts a damper on it.

Sad story. Who has the worst?
My friend's step-dad, Dennis.

Way to throw Dennis under the bus. Do you enjoy opening for others or do you prefer to headline right out of the gate?
My magic routine is getting better and better, so I hope to bring it to an opening slot soon.

What's your favorite song to cover?
We just recorded Kenny Loggins' "Danger Zone" which was fun. My favorite song to cover is Sade's "Smooth Operator," h owever, I don't think singing to an imaginary cat in my backyard counts as a real cover.

It does in my household. What song has been covered way too much?
That one s----y Beatles song, "Across the Universe," I think it goes,"Nothing's gonna stop this song, Nothing's gonna stop this song,(from sucking)."

Ouch, I dig that song a bit. Shifting gears, does Bea Arthur's death change the way you view "Golden Girls" reruns?I'm a Blanche Devereaux man myself, but there is still a tear in my eye. By the way, how did you know that I watch so much "Golden Girls?"
I had a hunch. Lastly, does Marilyn McCoo know you guys rock the name of her show?Marilyn McCoo doesn't read blogs, so I think we're safe.
